Designed as a source of wedding inspiration, this project was all about showcasing what’s possible when talented local vendors come together to create something both beautiful and meaningful for couples planning their day. This styled shoot at Thurlby Domain was a creative dream brought to life by Kirsty Ussher (planner, stylist, and celebrant) and myself, Emma from Emmaline Photography (photographer and content creator).
We envisioned something thoughtful, inspiring, and collaborative — a space where creativity and community could thrive. Our shared goal was to create something beautiful and useful for couples planning their wedding, while showcasing the magic of what happens when talented local vendors come together.

A Styled Shoot with Purpose – Thurlby Domain wedding inspiration
This collaborative shoot was built around three intentions:
- To create space for creative freedom and innovation among local Queenstown and Wanaka wedding vendors
- To develop meaningful and original content for social and marketing use
- To strengthen connections and collaboration within our local wedding community

A Romantic Concept Rooted in Nature
Set amongst the historic stone ruins of Thurlby Domain, our vision was to create a romantic, vintage-inspired outdoor celebration that felt connected to the land. We embraced a soft, earthy palette of pinks, greens, and oranges, pairing fresh florals with unexpected plant elements to add texture and depth.
Our aim was to show couples how you can style your wedding in harmony with nature — letting the venue’s character shine rather than competing with it. The result was a timeless, whimsical tablescape and ceremony design that felt intentional, relaxed, and full of beauty.

Why We Love Thurlby Domain for Weddings
Thurlby Domain is one of those rare venues that feels like a secret garden — full of charm, history, and cinematic backdrops in every direction. From a photographer’s perspective, it’s an absolute dream. With multiple distinct areas for ceremony, reception, and portraits, there’s no shortage of variety, and the seasonal changes only add to the magic. Whether you’re planning an intimate elopement or a laid-back outdoor wedding, this Queenstown venue is one of the most inspiring places to say “I do.”

The Creative Team for our Thurlby Domain wedding inspiration
Collaboration is truly the heartbeat of the wedding industry. Each vendor brought their own creative magic to the shoot — from styling and florals to beauty and signage — and together, we brought our vision to life in ways that exceeded all expectations.
What makes this community so special is the generosity and shared purpose among creatives. Everyone showed up with intention, kindness, and the spirit of collaboration. As a photographer, it’s energising to be part of a team where every detail is thoughtfully considered and where support is mutual.
A heartfelt thank you to this team of artists and collaborators who made the shoot what it was. We’re so proud of what we created together, and we hope it inspires couples who want their wedding day to be beautiful, grounded, and truly personal.
